One of Europe’s best city apartments is located in the Montorgueil neighbourhood in the 2nd arrondissement in Paris, France. This 310 square meters (3,337 sq. ft.) state of the art luxury designer loft apartment has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a lower level integrated gym equipped with a sauna. The main living area has an open floor plan with a gourmet kitchen. The wraparound mezzanine has sitting areas all around and overlooks the main living area below. The master bedroom has access to a balcony with view of the courtyard. There is a stone wall in the lower level which provides an interesting contrast to the modern staircase. The original floor plan of this apartment in Paris, France was geometrically confusing with 6 rooms squeezed into 60 square meters (about 645 sq. ft.). Architecture firm h2o architects turned the tight and contorted old apartment into a new wide open space which makes good use of every corner. A variety of cavities, niches and alcoves are sculpted into the casework and walls. Previously enclosed areas are opened up to give the apartment through-views and functional space.

Café Germain - Paris

Café Germain in the 6th Arrondissement in Paris, France is a contemporary work of art. The attention grabbing centrepiece of the café is the yellow sculpture of a woman (“Sophie”) in high heels. Created by artist Xavier Veilhan, the lower half of the sculpture stands on the first floor while the upper half breaks through the ceiling to the second floor of the café. Thierry Costes, the owner of the café, invited Paris-based interior designer India Mahdavi to create the rest of the interior space. Mahdavi used black and white tile floor, and orange and green anise chairs to complement the yellow sculpture.
